Can You Say Yes to these Questions?

Have you thought about where you would like to go and what you would like to do in a wheelchair?

Can you get in and out of the wheelchair easily?

Will the wheelchair still suit your needs in a year or two?

Does the seat fit properly?
Your thighs should be supported all the way along to near the back of your knee, with your feet supported firmly by the footrest.

If you want armrests, do they support your arms comfortably when resting?
There should only be a small gap between your hips and the armrests.

Is the back rest comfortable and as supportive as you want?
If you want a cushion for more comfort then this will alter the position of the armrests and back.

If you want to self-propel, is it easy for you?
Try manoeuvring the chair for a reasonable time to practice and see how tired you get.

Will you, or the helper, manage slopes and kerbs if you need to?
